Christmas Day

This year Grandpa, Nana, Gramps, and Granna were Santa.  Aubriana lucked out and got a new play mat with lights and sounds and a jumperoo with toys in every direction.  She also got to see snow, although we know she won't remember it.  At least we have pictures to document the event.

Along with eating baby food, Aubriana is also rolling from her back to her stomach.  Our baby is growing up!

Eating "Real" Food

Our first attempts at rice cereal were unsuccessful, so we waited a few weeks and then tried "real" food.  The pediatrician said to start with vegetables, so we bought several containers of green beans.  At first, Aubriana was not so sure about what we were sticking into her mouth, but each day she decided she liked it better and better.  By the third day, she was even leaning forward towards the spoon of baby food.  Maybe next we'll try peas.....or carrots......or sweet potatoes......or squash.  Oh, the choices we face.  = )

Baptism

As Presbyterians, we believe in infant baptism.  In the Old Testament, God made a covenant with Abraham and included his descendants in that promise (Genesis 17).  After Christ came, the sign was changed from circumcision to baptism, but since infants were included in the original covenant, we believe they are still included in the covenant of baptism.  This is a very short explanation of what we believe, but I wanted you to have some background knowledge as to why this was such a celebration for us.  She is a child of the covenant!  We do believe that Aubriana will have to accept Jesus as her Lord and Savior for herself one day.  We do not believe that she is saved just because she got baptized.  She will have to make a public profession of her faith when she accepts Jesus and begins her personal relationship with Him.
We would like to thank all of the family members (great grandmother, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins) who came to Aubriana's baptism today.  You will never know how much your support means to us.  We know that we cannot raise Aubriana all on our own and you will be the people we look to for guidance and prayers as we travel along this journey of parenthood.  We hope that you can come back (and other family can come) when she makes her public profession of faith, as that will be an even greater reason to celebrate.
Our one prayer request right now is that Aubriana will accept Jesus as her Lord and Savior at a very young age.  We pray that as she looks back over her life, there will never be a day that she didn't know Yahweh  (God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit).  Please join us in petitioning God to bring Aubriana into his flock as a young lady (child, even), so that her joy will be made complete, she will know a peace that passes all understanding, she will have a love that never fails, and she will have a life that is eternal.

 

 

  

Thanksgiving

I got sick on Thursday morning, so we missed Thanksgiving with both sets of families.  About a week later, we went out for a semi-homemade Thanksgiving meal and had Aubriana wear her barrette.  She was a hit!  All of the waiters/waitresses had to come see her because our waitress was bragging about how cute she was.  Then, other customers stopped by to see her since all the wait-staff had come to our table.  I think I may have to get a kid leash I formally made fun of.  Not so Aubriana won't run off, but so no one can kidnap her!  

 

Singing

Aubriana has been singing along with Mommy and Granna for about two months now. She has been sung to a lot, especially during diaper changes. Here is a short rendition of "You are my Sunshine."

Halloween

Several weeks before Halloween I bought Aubriana a costume.  She was our cutest little pumpkin.

A few days before Halloween, I was out shopping and costumes were on sale.  I couldn't resist splurging on a second costume and Aubriana became our cutest little kitten.  Or, as Granna says, our "cat's meow."

We went trick-or-treating, but only to Granna & Gramp's and Bob & Nana's.  Of course they were smitten with our pumpkin and kitten, too.

 

Happy Baby

Aubriana is such a wonderful baby.  She is happy all of the time and has such a sweet spirit.  Her daddy is already wrapped around her little finger and I am, too!  She gets showered in kisses every day.  Aubriana loves to sing with Granna, read books, swing, and laugh.  Here is the first video of our happy baby.

First Post

My brother and sister-in-law set up a blog so that friends and family could follow along in their joyous journey of parenthood.  Since we have enjoyed their blog so much, we thought we would do the same with our bundle of joy.  Playing off our last name Coon, we used Kits to describe our little ones (at this point cats, dog, and daughter), since baby raccoons are called "kits."  We hope to keep you updated as Aubriana grows and changes.  Enjoy!
